Yummy yummy.....

My little princess is really at home at Yigloo, relaxing on the rocking chair :-)

We spotted a new frozen yoghurt stall – Yigloo next to Akashi after we finish our lunch and decided to have our dessert here.

Their interior is renovated in pure white and coupled with tiny tables and chair and wat seem like a double decker bed make it very eye catching.

After we placed our order and decided on the dark chocolate flavor, their staff prepare the yogurt for us. I though it seem a bit weird as they have to come out from behind their counter, seem a bit inefficient to me :P

The best part is in Yigloo, the toppings are FREE but there's no second helping. So pile on as much as possible :D !

We decided to lunch at Akashi as I know it serve salmon porridge which is great for feeding Jolie. She managed to finish almost one whole bowl :D This is great as it will saves me the hassle of preparing Jolie food before going out shopping next time. Heehee....

So many beautiful decorative designs & toppings to choose from which you have to pay :P

Jolie helps by putting on the flower for decoration :-)

Since it's Pa birthday, we decided to try our hand on decorating our own cake.

The Icing Room which is belongs to BreadTalk offer a new concept of "Design-It-Yourself" cake-decorative personalization services which Jolie can't wait to give it a try as she saw others having fun on it :D

There is a promotion and it cost only $10 (usual $11.90) for a small vanilla cream cake and you can decorate your very own cake on the spot.

Though it seem simple, but I don't think it is suitable for everyone as not all have the "creative" finger as the end result speaks a thousand word...Haha....

Hence, we decided to buy another ready-made BlackForest cake from Polar to celebrate my Pa birthday instead :P

Till now, I still do not have the courage or strength to pen this incident. I feel as my heart has been sliced though I am helpless to what is happening around me.....

I had the worst Thursday night...

Jolie fell from our bed and hit the bedside table causing her to bleed profusely around the left corner of her lip. Luckily, we are able to stop the bleeding by applying pressure. It simply scared the wit out of me upon seeing so much blood.

We immediately bring Jolie to see the GP near our house at about 9pm. Upon the GP diagnosis, he recommend us to go to KK A&E for stitches. I am at my wits end as it seem serious to have to have stitches. I call Auntie Cindy for advice and she immediately come to the clinic upon hearing about Jolie fall.

With no other choice, we bring Jolie to KK A&E. The female doctor say there is no alternative to stitches as the wound is open and deep. Her stitches will dissolve it by itself between 5-7days. The next news is we have to put Jolie under GA to sedate her or the pain will be too much to bear. I break down and cry for failing to prevent such an incident. I call my sister and ask her to pray for Jolie.

After the stitches, we accompany Jolie as she is still sedated. We went home at about 1.30am.

The next day, Jolie still feel the pain and refuse to eat much or drink. I am relieved now everything seem back to the normal......

Never never assume your child is safe at home.....Keep a watchout wherever your child is .....After this incident, Shin and I are really protective of her and follow her wherever she went.....

I am thankful that I can turn to Auntie Cindy and my sister for providing my emotional support when I am so helpless.

Advice

1) Do not put any bedside table in the bedroom

2) According to Auntie Cindy, apply sugar on the wound will stop the bleeding

3) Use Aloe Vera gel/Vitamin E oil to lighten the scar after the wound heals

4) Do not eat chicken or egg or seafood (except fish -- Cod fish and Threadfin are good) or dark soya sauce

5) No playing under the sun or swimming

6) silicon plaster

I bought the tickets to The Magic Ocean, a kids' theatrical production at the Esplanade held at the recital studio from a fellow mummy who can't attend as her child is sick.

It is really difficult to get the tickets as all of them were sold out for all the below timings. Can you imagine that?

This is the 1st time that Jolie is watching a play and also our 1st time watching @ the Esplanade.

The play was meant for kids aged two to four.

We were all sitted on the floor, as we watched the play before us... However, the usher inform that photography is prohibited. Thus, no photos to share here :-(

The show took us on an imaginative trip under the ocean where the 3 main character acting out as fishes swam around us, the shark who just wanted to be friends with the others fish, turtle trying to find a place to lay eggs. There is also the shadow play starfish and eels which go yaba yaba yaba and the beautiful stingray and jelly fishes that flew past us.

It also allow participation from the kids and teach them to care for the environmental by picking up rubbish (aka plastic paper) and giving to the crab who will place it away.

Jolie is delighted to help and when she return from her little adventure, she proudly tells me "我不怕"

When the show ended, Shin asked Jolie whether the show is nice and Jolie immediately replied "好看"

I am thinking of bringing Jolie to the next show in August "The Magic Island" :-)

After the cycling, we decided to give the Korea BBQ a try as the TV advertisment seem quite luring.

Indeed, the whole place is big and very spacious with rows and rows of table. It reminded me of a school canteen though :P

All customers were given 2 jars of tea & iced water & 8 dishes of Kim Chi FOC :-)

The best part is there is a play area for the young ones, equipped with TV, slides, tables and books....

Yes, indeed all restaurant should be equipped with a play area to allow their parents to enjoy their food while the kids can also have fun at the same time

LESSON No 1 - BE AMBITIOUS

The Chinese believe in Setting Goals, Making Plans, & Focusing on Moving Ahead - there is always the sense of foward motion. The Chinese also believe that the grandparents at home make the best tutors for their children. It also provides a sense of cultural continuity - this helps bind society.

Here its a growing trend to have children brought up by maids, of the lowest educational & moral quality - so our children (the future leaders) grow up with similar language & outlook capability.

LESSON No 4 - SAVE MORE

In the USA , savings dropped to zero in 2005, and is only now slowly rising to 4%. In China , the savings rate for every household has exceeded 20%. The Chinese believe that fugality & a healthy savings rate are a sure indicator of a country's financial health. High savings lead to increased investments - results in increased productivity, innovation & job growth.

LESSON No 5 - LOOK OVER THE HORIZON

In China , eveyone is foward looking - never backwards. New graduates make a vow - never ever will their children & grandchildren ever work in the fields again. We are having quaker oats for supper and I have also prepared the hardboiled egg to go along.

As the hardboiled egg took a longer time to be cooked, Jolie has finished her quaker oats before the egg is done.

Thus, I ask her to go and read a book or play instead of sitting at the chair beside me at the dining table.

She replied "No".

I thought to myself, "Jolie is such a good girl to accompany me as I have not finished my quaker oats"

Thus, I ask her, "你在等妈妈吗?"

Can you guess what is her reply?

"没有，我在等鸡蛋"

My heart is broken into pieces by her direct reply....... :P

A beautiful world

I noticed that when I am reading story book to Jolie, she will use her hand to cover those pictures that she don't like.

For example, when we are reading Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, she will quickly use her hand to cover the evil stepmother aka the Queen.

The same thing happens when we were reading her favorite book, 可爱的鼠小弟 -- 鼠小弟荡秋千

She will quickly cover the part when the 老猫 appears as the 老猫 demand to 荡秋千.

To Jolie, I understand that she wants to blot out all the ugly aspects in life. This is because I share the same thoughts as her. As I grow older, I no longer watch sad, life story, horror movies. Life is a burden that is sometime so heavy to bear.

But a mother, I ponder how do I teach my little girl that the world is still a beautiful wonder that our God has created for us despite all the unfairness, sickness, poverty........

We are watching the Saving Gaia advertisement on
television during dinner when Jolie suddenly says something that make us laugh off our chairs :P

The advertisement is about
the various character playing out as "Tree", "Ocean", "Sky" and imagine
它们是地球最重要的资产，而且都面临着重大的危机。 “假如”它们是人类，你会拯救他们吗？这部广告希望能激发大家的使命感，积极抢救我们的生命之源－地球。

and lastly a little boy ask

假如我是地球，你会保护我吗？

Can you imagine what is Jolie response? Bet you can't.....

假如我是一个雞蛋，你会保护我吗？

(She is eating egg at the time of watching the advertisement :P)

Note: For our future generations, please do your little part in saving the earth as even little step counts.....

Some of my little contributions (it helps to save $$$ too)

1) saving water that you use to wash milk bottles to pour into washing machines to wash clothes since the water can't be too dirty

2) saving water you use for washing clothes to flush the toilet

3) print less on paper, go digital, i.e. email, scan, or screenshot information as required

4) recycle paper, newspaper, magazines.......

5) boil water and kept them in thermal flask instead of Electric Water Heater, find it very good cause it really can keep the water warm for 6 to 8 hours.

6) think twice before buying anything :D

Some of my ideas (but would need help from others)

1) build houses that are far apart with lots of trees and greenery that will in turn improve air circulation and wind flow to help people cut down the need to switch on the aircons
2) build commuter-friendly, efficient and environment friendly transport system....but I know it would be impractical to say
3) go
rubanisation....I read a news article on Straits Times on
Tay Kheng Soon rubanisation concept and think to myself..."Whoa, isn't that a wonderful concept"

Bought this fruit vinegar from my company stall today. I have been thinking of trying the fruit vinegar for some time after reading quite a few articles on the health benefits that it bring.

According to the stall owner, it is best to drink a cup of 30 to 60ml diluted with two(2) or three(3) parts water once before sleep.

Let me try it out and see if it really delivers what is promise :-) The first on the list is my little tummy :P

Helps to prevent various types of cancer such as, breast cancer, skin cancer, lung cancer and prostate cancer. It contains high level of fiber and antioxidants to remove free radicals, and prevent against heart and cardiovascular diseases.

We went for dinner at Ang Mo Kio as we plan to look for a wardriobe for Jolie as her clothes and books are all spilling out :P

We have a satisfied dinner at S-11 next to Jubilee. We ordered the BBQ seafood, prawn omelette, BBQ sotong and 三峇大头.

After the dinner, we went to Jubilee next door and once Jolie saw the Toy Story 3 advertisement board, she rush forward to pose by herself :P

I am so happy that there is a new restaurant at Hougang Mall, at least a new choice for makan.

It is a sushi chain with conveyor belt cum steamboat restaurant. The food is served on the conveyor belt. However, the items are not too fresh and there is not much selection though it is a buffet. :-(

We were served 2 types of soup which we choose chicken soup and shabu shabu soup (too sweet) over the Tom Yam soup.

For the sushi, there is california roll, tamago sushi, ebiko sushi but no salmon sushi :-(

For the Shabu Shabu, there is enoki,prawns,oden,Octopus,fish...

There is also a Tempura section with fried food. The thing we like best is the shishamo placed at the tempura section, it's good which is full of eggs :D

But the most disappointing thing is the dessert, which is the most important item when I go for buffet. They serve 2 type of dessert plus those red bean,corn,chendol stick ice cream.

So what look like a promising place for meal turn out to be another Disappointing trip.

Coming out of the waterfall :-)

We ventured into the Funky Forest and Daisies where we discover how our movements will make streams 'flow' and trees 'grow'.

If you stand in front of the screen, you will make a tree grow. Then you need to redirect the flow of the stream towards the trees. It is indeed a very interesting visual treat. :-)

The next place that we went is Floribots which teaches with over 100 giant robot flowers that 'grow' before your very eyes from a bud until they 'bloom' pink and yellow.

Walter's garden (Walter is that giant white rabbit)

At Singapore Art Museum, we were informed by the staff there is the Children's Season held at the nearby Singapore Art Museum Annex, SAM@8Q, which is more suitable for Jolie. Thus, we decided to hop by.

Apparently, from Wikipedia, 8Q is an extension of the Singapore Art Museum (SAM), with its name deriving from the museum's location at No. 8 Queen Street near Bras Basah Road. Interestingly, the museum's location is also approximately 88 steps away from the mother Singapore Art Museum. :P

The first thing that caught Jolie attention is the Walter's Garden which is a creative playground where young children can learn about colours, shapes and develop psychomotor skills through play. She enjoy throwing the sand bags with the other kids :P

It's the 1st time we tried Marvelous Cream and it is yummy.

Check out the irresistable toppings...

The ice cream chefs doing up our ice-cream on a ice marble top. There are 28 ready creations available or you can "customise" your own creation. I choose the Belgium chocolate with marshmallow.

Jolie can only eat the waffle but Shin and I finish the ice-cream in no time.

Helix Bridge....Where is the supposed Cool Mist Walk? Apparently not completed yet :P

We plan to go to the Marina Bay Sands | Singapore' s Luxury Hotel Resort & Casino as we thought that it is completed.

As per the instructions on the website, we take the CIRCLE LINE – Exit at Promenade MRT Station Exit A and take a 10-minute walk to Bayfront Avenue.

But to our dismay, the place I would say the place is far from completed.

I have thought of walking in the breeze along the Helix bridge with mist spraying at us from whatever fans to cool down the temperature. But it's a total different experience, as we walk in the heat at 4 pm amidst all the pollution from the construction and the traffic.

I am just glad when we finally reach the Marina Bay Sands.
